Music Scholarship Application
Purpose of the scholarship is to promote and encourage a lifelong participation in choral singing. There are two different scholarship opportunities available. The first opportunity is available to any student pursuing a college degree or technical school certification. The second opportunity is available to any school age student, middle to senior high school, attending a summer music camp. Please refer to the attachments for each opportunity’s specific qualifying requirements.

College or Technical School Scholarship Guidelines
The scholarship program is available to those currently pursuing a college/university degree or vocational certification while maintaining an active membership in the Lapeer County Concert Choir.
Scholarship Guidelines
1. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote and encourage a lifelong participation in
choral singing.
2. Scholarship applicants must have completed a minimum of one fall or spring season
as an active member of the Lapeer County Concert Choir.
3. Scholarship applicants must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a post-secondary degree
(college/university) or certification (vocational school) program.
4. The scholarship recipient must maintain active membership in the choir for each semester
they receive funds from the scholarship.
5. The scholarship award is up to $500 for one year disbursed up to $250 per semester upon
proof of enrollment in a post-secondary program.
6. The scholarship recipient may reapply for the scholarship each year along with other
applicants for the scholarship.
7. The scholarship committee may withdraw the scholarship award should the recipient fail to
meet the active choir membership requirement.
8. The scholarship application must be delivered to Betty Smith or Eddie Howell by the last
day of May, May 31, for consideration.

Middle, Junior, and Senior High School Scholarship Guidelines
Scholarship Guidelines
1. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote and encourage a lifelong participation in
choral singing.
2. At the discretion of the Choir Board of Directors up to five $100 scholarships may be offered
to middle, junior, and senior high school students to attend a summer vocal music camp.
3. The applicant should be a middle, junior, or senior high school student who is currently
involved in a vocal music program-school, church, community, or private study.
4. The Choir Board of Directors will make their decision of scholarship winners at the June
board meeting and recipients will be notified by phone.
5. An applicant selected to receive a $100 scholarship must provide proof of acceptance and
payment to a summer music camp before receiving the scholarship distribution.
6. Scholarship application must be delivered to Betty Smith or Eddie Howell by the last day
of May, May 31, for consideration.
